Kylea Beaumont was an exceptional student in high school, always involved in extra cirricular activities. Her brother Kyle was also an exceptional student. He was captain of the basketball team and swim team. From what was known of the twins, they had an excellent relationship. They were considered best friends toward each other. Usually, if one was around, so was the other. It was said that Kyle and Kylea shared an unearthly connection, not just ones twins naturally seemed to have, but more.

The night before their graduation, Kylea and Kyle went out with several of their friends to a popular dance club. As they were getting out of the car, another car passed by and gun shots were heard. Kylea had ducked down into her seat, and the only injuries she had were a few scratches from the shattered glass. Frantically, Kylea searched for Kyle, finding him on the ground outside the open driver’s side door. He had several gunshots to the chest. Kyle Beaumont died in the arms of his twin sister.

Reports showed Kyle had been shot by four rounds from a 9mm baretta. The shots had hit the chest , but missed the heart region. It was announced he died from loss of blood.

Witnesses said the car was a black Mercedes with black tinted windows, so no one within the vehicle could be identified. No one had seen the license plate. Interviews with people who knew Kyle Beaumont revealed nothing. The young man was well liked, and did not seem to have any known enemies. Nor did Kylea. Kyle died before the ambulance arrived. Witnesses said Kylea had stopped crying shortly after help had arrived. Her behavior had seemed she had become numb or was in perhaps shock.

Kylea insisted on attending graduation and giving her valedictorian speech, though she had rewritten it. At the end of her speech, her class stood and clapped. Parents, students, and faculty cried.

After Kyle’s death, many of Kylea’s friends noted she had become a little more subdued. Though, she still went out and was quite social, there seemed to be something missing from her person. Kylea had broken up with her boyfriend of two years shortly after the funeral, saying she had to be alone. That she had to heal on her own terms.

Despite her parents’ insistence she take a year off before attending college, Kylea went ahead with her enrollment at the Univeristy of Oregon the following fall. During her second semester, Kylea had a nervous breakdown. Her roommate had been in the room when Kylea suddenly burst out crying and shaking. She also started to throw things, and seem to talk to herself. Her roommate said that it seemed like Kylea was talking to her brother, having heard “Kyle” several times. Further interviews with her roommate, resident advisors, professors, coaches, and friends revealed that her behavior before the break down was normal. Nothing out of the ordinary. Her grades were exceptional.

Kylea’s parents took her to a psychiatric clinic, thinking that Kyle’s death had driven her over the edge. Observations showed that Kylea seemed to be a normal 17 year old college student. A very serious and creative young woman who enjoyed writing, reading, and playing her flute. However, at times, she was observed sitting alone and talking. Usually, she would be seen by a window or on her bed, facing a chair. When asked what she was doing, she would answer by saying nothing. After several attempts, she finally admitted she was talking to her brother Kyle.

Other strange behaviors included her insistant humming of a classical piece. When asked what she was singing, she said it was a piece by Johann Sebastian Bach entitled, “Jesus always is my gladness.” She said it was Kyle’s favorite Christmas melody, and that it gave her comfort when she felt scared or nervous.

Doctor’s said she was delusional. That Kyle death had caused Kylea to create a haven where she felt as though Kyle had not left at all, saying that he was her guardian angel.

During her stay at the clinic, Kylea met a young man named Kris Coborn. He had recently been admitted with the diagnosis of schizophrenia. As time went on, the two were constantly seen together, seeming to be a support system for the other.

Kylea was released several years later at age twenty. She seemed to have improved. Her talking to herself diminished as did the humming. Kris was released shortly after her, showing signs that he could live with his schizophrenia.

Kylea returned to live with her parents for several months. Interviews with friends and family revealed that Kris and Kylea had begun dating after Kris’s release from the clinic.

For her twenty-first birthday, several of Kylea’s friends, Kris, and Kylea went to the Beaumont home in Aspen to celebrate. At approximately 11:15PM, while driving back to Kylea’s home, the Ford Mustang Tausha Velcamp, a friend of Kylea’s, was driving collided with a blue Dodge Stratus. Later reports revealed that both drivers were intoxicated, as well as all the passengers in both vehicles.

Kris and Kylea had been thrown out of the Mustang, despite wearing their seatbelts. After several hours of searching for their bodies, none were to be found.

End of report.

I can’t remember when I saw that report. I do remember Kris having brought it to me one night while we were out wandering the streets of Aspen. I hadn't left Aspen after my death. My parents never came back to Aspen either.

I will never forget that night, though. I remember hearing screaming and the screech of tires. There was also that sickening sound of metal being scrunched together. I felt my body being jolted suddenly forward. Then, it felt like I was flying. That’s a strange sensation. It was almost like riding a roller coaster. That insane, but weirdly wonderful, sensation you get in your stomach as you plummet down several stories.

I then remember hearing Kris call out my name. My eyes opened, and I heard more screaming and crying. It was real dark, too.

“K-k-k-kris, where are we?”

His face was so pale in the dark. He had blood on his face and in his blonde hair. He was holding my head in his lap. His crystal blue eyes looked scared and worried.

“Don’t talk, Kylea,” he murmured. “You’re dying, babe.”

“I’m what?” I said back.

God, my body hurt. When I tried moving, I was blinded by all this blackness. I felt something trickling down my face and between my eyes. My throat felt so constricted. I felt myself losing grip with reality.

“You’re dying, Kylea,” I heard Kyle say.

Kyle?

I blinked and looked up. It was Kyle. I felt myself starting to cry.

“Oh, God, Kyle…what happened?”

“Shhhhh,” he said. “I’m not going to let you die, Kylea.”

“It hurts, though, Kyle. It hurts so much.”

His eyes seemed engulfed in pain from what he saw. I could feel his hands running through my hair. I felt him put something over my body. I had started shivering.

“Look, I’m gonna do something that’ll help the pain, but you have to promise me you won’t freak out when you wake up, okay?”

I nodded. I trusted Kyle. He was my twin brother, and would never hurt me. I saw him smile.

“When you wake up, things are going to be different. They might even be better. You trust me, Kylea?”

God, I felt blood in the back of my throat. I could taste it.

“Don’t let me die, Kyle, please.”

He then kissed my face. I could feel his lips kissing all over my face. Then, I felt this sudden surge of ecstasy. That’s the only way I can describe it. It was like I was on fire, but it was so pleasurable. I didn’t want it to end. Then, I felt myself slipping away. My body tightened just briefly. Then, it went black.

You said you weren’t going to hurt me, Kyle. It hurts. Oh, God, it hurts! Where are you? Why aren’t you here to save me? It feels like I’m caught in this vice of fire. I’m suffocating, Kyle! Help me! Oh, God! Where am I? Why does it feel like I’m being burned alive? Help me! Save me, Kyle!
